General information
Background: Known until January 1976 as Skene Street School; has been in operation since February 1878. The building has been well preserved and, throughout the years, alterations have been made bringing it up to date. The school is fortunate in having plenty of room in which to carry out a wide range of activities. The expressive arts curriculum also provides pupils with insights into their heritage and understanding of their own and others' cultures. It offers the opportunity for children to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities. Gaelic-medium unit; pupils from nursery to Primary 7 are taught the whole curriculum through the medium of Gaelic. Ethos: 'The school provides opportunities for quality learning which recognise the needs of each child, promoting independence and laying the foundations for life-long learning.' .
