General information
Background: Founded in 1959 after closure of St Mary's RC School in center of city; in 1988, school was relocated from Northfield area of Aberdeen to Summerhill; pupils accommodated in single-storey building, with two wings containing classrooms, library, general purpose rooms, and central administration area complete with dining hall. Outside facilities include playground with grass and tarmac play areas, and environmental garden to rear of building. Since moving to its new location, the school roll has almost doubled. The school offers team sports, and has strong volleyball team, which has won several Scottish national awards. Pupils are tested for musical aptitude and offered musical tuition in P4; lessons given in cello, violin, brass and piano. The school has a wide range of after-school activities that the children can participate in at the end of the school day or at weekends. .
