General information
Background: Scotstown School which was built in 1969, is sited on the west side of Scotstown Road adjacent to the junction of Scotstown Road and North Donside Road. The site is approximately five and a half acres in extent with attractive contours and grassy playground areas for pupils. The building, all on the ground floor, has its classrooms in three main units. The classrooms in each unit are grouped in clusters: two classrooms in each cluster in the early years units; four classrooms in each cluster in the junior and senior units. All junior and senior classrooms open into central units equipped for practical work. The school has two halls: the smaller caters mainly for the early stage pupils; the large main hall for the junior and senior pupils. Both are multi-purpose and are used for lunches, physical education, assembly, drama and games. In addition there is a school library for the early stage pupils and one for the middle and upper stage pupils, a staff resource room, a family room, a staffroom, a medical room and an administration block. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. .
