Background: Banchory is located on the A93, 18 miles west of Aberdeen and is a young, thriving community which offers a wide range of social and recreational opportunities for all ages. The school formed a department of Banchory Academy until 1978. Its expansion began in the early 1970's with the influx of oil related industry to the North East of Scotland. The first phase of its present building was completed in 1972. The nursery was built in 1981 but was not opened as a nursery until 1989. An extension was added in 1982. .
