General information

Background: Ellon Academy is a large rural secondary comprehensive school with a long tradition of excellence and positive relationships with the local community. The academy is sited in a magnificent wooded setting, once the grounds of Ellon Castle. From being the ancient capital of Buchan, serving a vast outlying rural community. In the past twenty years these changes have been reflected in the growth of the academy. In 1979 the school catered for only 500 pupils; today more than 1,300 pupils attend the school and are supported by over 100 teaching staff. .
