General information
Background: Becontree Primary School is a co-educational day establishment, and is part of the education authority of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The school was founded in October 1922 to meet the educational needs of the children moving into the newly created Becontree Estate. It started in temporary accommodation in St Thomas?s Church Hall and transferred to the present singly-storey building, situated beside Goodmayes Park, in 1925. The building is in the shape of a horseshoe with all rooms and teaching areas leading off a central corridor. The school is equipped with several resource rooms, a library, an ICT suite, and two spacious halls. The school also has its own dining room.
