General information

Background: Copthall School was formed in 1973 by the amalgamation of Copthall County Grammar School and Woodcroft Secondary Modern. It is now a sixth form entry school with more than three applications for each place. The original 1930s grammar school building has been joined to a new wing of equal size in Mill Hill, with playing field and tennis courts. The school provides many facilities such as three computer rooms, five technology workshops, nine laboratories, four art rooms, ceramics workshop and a modern dark room. There is also a large sports hall with viewing gallery, multi-gym and a multi purpose space with sprung floor ideal for dance performances, theatre and music. A new library opened in 1999 and the school received an excellence award from the DfES in 2001. The school has an integrated computer system, compact disc-read only memory and a language laboratory. The school has nearly 200 computers and it also provides three ICT computer rooms, laptops and a learning resource centre for the students. The school aims that all pupils achieve high in all aspects of school life. There is a focus on business and enterprise. .
