General information
Background: Danegrove Primary School is set on the margins of London?s Green Belt. The school has two sites; children enter school in the reception year on the Ridgeway Avenue site. They stay on that site for two years, moving on to the Windsor Drive site for years two to six. Each year has three classes. The school is able to offer facilities for its pupils on both sites, including well equipped, spacious classrooms, libraries, a music room, a science and technology room with modern kitchen and a special needs resource unit. Each class has its own computer network room. The school is well equipped with audio visual aids and science and technology materials. It offers a broad and balanced curriculum that includes the National curriculum. The literacy and numeracy strategies are used and a large emphasis is placed on ICT skills and knowledge. Science is taught throughout the school. The foundation subjects of history, geography, design and technology, music, physical education, art, personal and social health education and religious education are also studied by all age groups. It currently operates four homework clubs, as well as clubs for arts and crafts, football, netball, multi sports, chess, drama, French and music groups at lunch times and after school. The school aims to help children become secure, self-confident and successful. At Danegrove School great emphasis is placed on developing a growing sense of self-esteem and respect for others. Everyone at school is encouraged to develop a collective respect for their school. The aim is to give equal opportunity to all, regardless of gender, race or religion. Its policy is to prepare pupils to live and work harmoniously together.
