General information
Headteacher: William Winfield.
Background: Mill Hill School was founded in 1807 as a Grammar School for the sons of protestant dissenters. The music department has recently been the subject of major redevelopment and the significantly enlarged facilities now include a composition suite and a professional standard hard disk recording studio. Virtually all sporting activities are provided for on the School?s 120-acre site, with provision being made for all ability levels, from novice to advanced. There are two swimming pools, a recently constructed all-weather surface for hockey and tennis, a sports hall, Eton fives courts and netball courts, as well as facilities for rugby, hockey, cricket and soccer. The school owns a field study centre in the Yorkshire Dales. This facility allows its pupils to experience a wide variety of outdoor pursuits in a beautiful setting close to the North Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Inspection: March 2001: 'Mill Hill School provides a good rounded education for pupils of a broad range of ability from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. It enriches both the academic and, particularly, the personal development of its pupils. Its many facilities, set in an impressive and well-cared-for campus, offering magnificent views looking out over London, provide an excellent environment for the education of its pupils. The school strongly promotes its aims and objectives.' .
