General information
Background: Beechen Cliff School founded 100 years ago in 1904 as Bath City Secondary School in Guildhall in the centre of the city. The school moved to its present site, a Bath stone building in 1931 as the city of Bath Boys School. In 1970 it combined with Oldfield Boys' School secondary modern school, to become Beechen Cliff comprehensive school. From that time, the school was in two sites until when extra building enabled all children to be taught in the current Beechen Cliff buildings in 1989. The school offers a variety of sporting activities including rugby, hockey, football, cricket and athletics. There are also musical, debating and public speaking opportunities. Links with the community are very strong as is fundraising for charity. The school aims to provide the best education for each pupil, to prepare each pupil effectively for adulthood and to achieve the highest standards in all areas of school life.
