General information

Headteacher: Gary Best.

Background: The school stands on the northern slopes of Bath in the midst of 218 acres of the former Lansdown estate of the famous nineteenth-century millionaire eccentric, William Beckford. All around there are beautiful trees and glorious vistas over the surrounding countryside and over the World Heritage city of Bath. Enjoying the different seasons is part of what every student will remember at Kingswood, particularly the fresh greens of spring, the bright sunshine of summer, and the hues colours of autumn. The campus has a wealth of facilities to enhance everyone's educational opportunities and the senior and prep school sections of the school are divided by the most wonderful parkland, complete with its own herd of cows.Kingswood also benefits from its proximity to Bath, a city renowned for its outstanding architecture and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Just walking around Bath offers the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful streets in the world, including the renowned Queen's Square, the Circus, and the Royal Crescent. Bath has over forty leisure attractions in and around it's environment and these suit every taste. Many of them are historically some of the most fascinating buildings in the world (such as the Roman Baths and the wonderful fan-vaulted Bath Abbey) and make Bath one of the top tourist resorts of Europe. Others reflect the rich cultural nature of the city: theatres, multiplex cinemas, sports' facilities, etc. and, of course, one of the top ten shopping centres in Britain. Kingswood offers a wide a variety of recreational activities, with particular strengths in music, drama and sport. There is also a thriving outdoor pursuits department. Society life flourishes, and there is an exciting general studies programme in place for the sixth form. Academics, career advisers, writers and politicians are regularly invited to augment our in-house programme. Kingswood?s superb facilities and the commitment of the staff to this important aspect of education give an added dimension to every student's curriculum. .
