General information

Background: Norton Hill School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is 11 to 18. The school occupies an extensive 29-acre site on a hill to the south of Midsomer Norton overlooking the town. The playing fields border the Somerset boundary. The school is very successful in all kinds of sporting activities. It also has a strong music tradition. The school facilitates extensive playing fields which accommodate rugby, football and hockey pitches, a cricket pitch and cricket nets, a full size athletics track as well as jumping and throwing areas and two hard areas which comprise seven tennis courts and can be used for netball or football. Facilities of the school include full-sized Astroturf with floodlighting for hockey and football as well as a new set of changing rooms. There are a wide range of after-school activities throughout the year when the children have the chance to develop skills and interests in such things as football, netball, cricket, tennis, and gymnastics among others. At lunchtimes and after-school, teachers give up time to organise various clubs. Wide ranges of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. The school aims to support a highly skilled and motivated team and encourages building partnerships with parents.
