General information

Background: Saint Gregory's Catholic College is situated on southern tip of historic city of Bath. It was formed in 1979 from amalgamation of secondary school and small convent grammar school. Its number on roll has grown rapidly. It draws pupils from wide area encompassing areas of both affluence and social deprivation in city of Bath, rural communities, market towns and villages of a former mining community. It is attractively situated in own grounds overlooking picturesque Englishcombe valley. The buildings of the school were constructed in 1960s and have been refurbished with a new technology block, block of 12 classrooms, dance and drama studio in 2003. Its library has also been refurbished and transformed into learning centre with network of modern computers. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered to develop social education including football, netball, tennis and choir. A variety of clubs, sporting and other activities flourish. The school organises foreign visits. It has regular fundraising events for national and international charities. It is a high achieving and successful school with awards like Artsmark Gold, Investor in People status, Beacon status and DfES achievement award (2001). The school is specialist in performing arts since September 2002 and was awarded a second specialism in language by the DfES in September 2006.
