General information

Background: Ashton Middle School is a Church of England voluntary aided comprehensive co-educational day school for pupils aged nine to 13 years. The buildings date from 1887 to 1964 and their main building, which houses the main hall, memorial library and other rooms. In total the school has 15 general classrooms, two recently refurbished science laboratories, two music rooms, a library, an art workshop, three design technology and home technology workshops, an information technology room and a new networked information technology suite. There are also a gymnasium block, outdoor swimming pool, refectory, school chapel and administrative offices. There are number of grassed areas in the school grounds which are used for physical education and a large games field at West Parade. Extra-curricular activities form an important part of the life of the school. There is a huge range of opportunities including art club, chess club, drama club, design and technology club, science club, gardening club, information technology club, library club and music club. Pupils are also offers a huge range of sports club at Ashton. Games mixtures are arranged against other schools in the area and field teams for soccer, netball, hockey, rugby, volleyball, basketball, rounders, cricket and athletics. The school has an enviable reputation for their results in the district cross-country athletics and swimming competitions. The pupils of Ashton have a marvellous history of fundraising activities supporting many national and local charities. The school aims to provide a happy and warm atmosphere in which the children can live and learn. .
