General information

Background: Biddenham Upper School and Sports College is a 13-19 ?international? comprehensive school, which welcomes young people and adults from all over the world. The school was awarded Specialist Sports College status in June 2003. As one of the newest schools in the county the school is fortunate to have fine buildings and resources. The facilities and resources are housed in five separate areas of the school, which have recently been named after famous sportsmen and women. These facilities include dance studio/gym, theatre and drama studio, music and individual practice rooms, art and graphic design studios, textiles studio, food technology room, sixth form art studio, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, information technology network rooms, business studies room, school library and supported learning centre, careers library and study room, learning support centre, language rooms, school dining hall, special educational needs centre and full-size sports hall with climbing wall. The school is extremely rich in extra-curricular activities. Extra resources from the lottery fund have lead to a rich array of after-school clubs and societies. There are also opportunities to take part in activities and field trips organised by subject departments. The school is a friendly and purposeful community with a ?family feel? and is committed to the full personal, social and intellectual growth of each student in its care. .
