General information

Background: Hastingsbury Upper School and Community College has seven computer rooms with networked access to the internet. The resource centre houses a wide range of printed information and computers with CD-ROM, integrated learning software and links to the internet through the independent learning centre and library. The school has an enterprise centre and an enterprise advisor, and from September 2004 all Year 9 students will be following an enterprise course. All Key Stage 4 students follow a business and enterprise course to GCSE. It is affiliated to the specialist schools trust for business and enterprise. The school offers an enhancement programme to Post 16 students which is open to adults and includes courses learning to use adobe photoshop and SAGE accountancy software, Spanish, yoga, and water colour painting. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities for young people during lunchtimes and after-school, which include netball, basketball, football, hockey, rugby, athletics, gymnastics, adventure activities, volleyball and cricket. It currently holds the Bedfordshire under-16s District and County Cup in boys' football. The school is an official ?Centre of Excellence? for cricket. The school aims for excellence by providing a stimulating educational environment, which enables people to reach their full potential, encourages a sense of self-respect and promotes values based on respect for others.
