General information
Background: Built in 1969, St Martin de Porres now offers seven classrooms and a multi-purpose hall. The bulk of pupils come from Moseley, Sparkhill, Balsall Heath and Higate. More than 40% of pupils receive free school meals and almost half have English as a second language. The school is proud of its sporting achievements, among them the 1999 Catholic Cricket Shield. Residential and Outward Bound opportunities are available each year. Other high points include winning the Literacy Award from the National Primary Centre and a mention in the Chief Inspector's annual report.
