General information

Background: Holy Family is a Catholic school situated in the Diocese of Lancaster. The school has been a part of the local community since 1957 and enjoys an accommodation unrivalled in the area. The site includes spacious buildings consisting of two halls, a spacious, well-stocked library, as well as a separate information technology room. The school also boasts extensive school grounds, which support an athletics track in the summer months and includes adventure play areas in the junior and infant yards as well as a pond and wildlife garden. There are a variety of clubs taking place during the lunch-hour and after school. These include keyboard lessons, chess club, science, football, art club, netball, gardening, Latin, drama and athletics. Throughout the year a wide range of educational trips may be organised to widen the experience of the children. The school also holds many special events including arts week, geography action week, environmental day and health and safety events. The school aims to make all sporting opportunities, both curricular and extra-curricular, enjoyable and rewarding. The school supports many charities. During the autumn term it makes collections for CAFOD and Vincent House. At Lent it collects for Catholic Caring Services and in the summer term it supports 'Help A Local Child'. The school aims to provide a genuinely caring environment where a safe, positive and enjoyable atmosphere is provided, allowing everyone to develop confidence and a good all round rapport.
