General information

Background: Al Jamiah Al Islamiyyah is an independent Muslim school, founded in 1992. The premise of the Institute, previously used as a hospital, was built in the late 19th century. It comprises of 5 acres of surrounding land and two-floor building, which consists of 50 rooms of different sizes and can accommodate up to 200 students.

Inspection: May 1997: 'Overall attainments in the core subjects of mathematics and science, taught in the afternoonlessons, fall below expectations for pupils of the same age nationally in both key stages. However, there are examples of pupils attaining standards in line with national norms in each of these subjects, in one or both key stages. Standards in English are broadly in line with expectations at Key Stage 3, butoverall attainment of a significant minority at Key Stage 4 falls below expectations. Progress in most lessons is unsatisfactory and overall gains in learning over time are insufficient.'
