General information
Background: The Berwickshire High School was opened in 1896 to serve the community of mid-Berwickshire. The school moved in 1958 from the original building in Newtown Street to the present site where it is situated in extensive and pleasant grounds with its own playing fields. A wide range of activities are available ? sport, music, scripture union, house events, etc. The department offers several performing groups as extra-curricular activities. The band, orchestra and choir meet weekly throughout the year and various smaller groups are formed for specific concerts. The school has a large games hall, separate gymnasium and access to a 25m heated swimming pool. The school grounds provide facilities for rugby, hockey and athletics. The school also makes use of the local tennis courts and privately run pitches, gym and golf driving range. The school aims to provide the best possible educational experience for all pupils.
