General information
Background: Founded in 1967; housed in modern buildings, most of which built in 1970s and 1980s. Facilities include gymnasium, games hall, extensive playing fields and well-equipped assembly hall. Draws pupils from large area of central Scottish Borders, with more than 80 per cent arriving by bus; makes most of surrounding area for popular cycling trips; has purpose-built trailer for 24 bicycles, which allows excursions to take place further afield. Groups of pupils have visited France on several occasions, once for a cycling trip and five times for walking in Pyrenees; German exchange to develop language skills. School's musicians and dramatists display talents at annual school show and concert.
