Background: Founded in London in 1803, the school has enjoyed royal patronage since 1836. It moved to Slough in 1927 then to new premises on its current 28-acre site in 1989. The junior school occupies self-contained accommodation and there is also a sports complex, theatre, fishing lake and computing facilities. A large selection of extra-curricular activities is available, including sports. 'It was the founder's intention to cater for children of all abilities and this remains the case today.' To provide caring confident citizens for the future.
Approach to discipline: The school rules call on pupils to take responsibility for their own actions, treat each other with care and consideration and respect property. There is zero tolerance on bullying.
Uniform: Grey skirt/shorts, white/grey shirt, school tie, navy jumper with school badge.
Special needs: The school has an SEN team in the junior school which provides additional one to one support for any children who need it.
Inspection: January 2005: 'The Licensed Victuallers? School fulfils its aim ?to provide caring and confident citizens for the future?. Through very good personal development, pupils develop into mature and responsible young people. They are very well supported by staff, through their good teaching, high quality of care and through the very wide range of extra-curricular activities. Pupils achieve high standards in the junior school and up to GCSE; they achieve good standards in the sixth form. Strong leadership underpins a vibrant and purposeful community, in which staff are very good role models and in which pupils play a full and active part. Although accommodation is very good overall, a few areas are cramped for the number of pupils using them, and information and communications technology (ICT) is not fully integrated into all areas of the curriculum.'
