Background: Brondesbury College for Boys, London, is managed by the Waqf al Birr Trust, a registered UK charity and endowment, under whose auspices the lslamia Girls' High School has now officially become one of the top 50 schools in the city of London. The college accepts students from the ages 11 upto 16, and is accessible to Muslims regardless of race, colour or status. The college will soon extend to sixth form and will offer essential aspects of Arabic and Islamic Shariah in conjunction with broad range of science, physical education and national curriculum discipline. The emphasis is on providing a healthy all-round education in a positive environment guided by the teachings of Islam.The college comprises two buildings and various annexes which are fully equipped with modern facilities and apparatus necessary to teach the national curriculum up to A-level. In the main college building, a Mosque and assembly hall augments the original Georgian building and provides a religious focus and space for daily performance of prayers. The newly built extension is of unique architectural design, which includes a modern fully equipped laboratory, art and design studio and a further three classrooms, together with a purpose-built dining hall. The main building houses spacious classrooms, a library and up-to-date information technology centre. The nearby Islamia School centre provides the college with a fully equipped CDT workshop, large gymnasium facilities and Aylestone playing fields offers boys spacious sports grounds for outdoor activities. Sports activities include football, gymnastics, horse riding, martial arts, swimming, table-tennis, basketball, tennis, rugby and cricket. The school also offers Arabic, Qur'anic recitation (Tajweed and Tilawah), calligraphy, drama, journalism and general studies. .
