General information
Background: Built in 1958 on a site which dates back to medieval times, Malorees is located in 'spacious' grounds which formerly belonged to a large manor house, in an area which is a 'haven of tranquility in a large city'. The school takes its name from the manor of Peter Maloure, a JP who lived at the time of Edward II. The manor of Malorees eventually grew into a large estate which included the parishes of Paddington, Chelsea and Fulham. Having gained possession of the estate, Henry IV then granted it to All Souls College Oxford. The school's main building is a two-storey block, with an adjacent sports field for recreation and sports. The choir and orchestra are testament to the importance given to music and more than half the pupils learn to play an instrument. Breakfast and after-school clubs provide 'flexibility for working parents' in addition to extra-curricular activities such as Spanish, football and art for pupils. Classes enjoy educational visits to places of interest in London and the surrounding area. In addition to this, every child in Year 5 has the opportunity to take part in a field trip to the Gordon Brown Outdoor Centre in Hampshire, while Year 6 pupils have the chance to spend a week on the Isle of Wight. The school holds a 'special place'in the community and attachments made with the school are 'strong and long-lasting'. .
