General information

Background: Beaverwood School for Girls is in London's green belt on the borders of Chislehurst and Sidcup. Established in 1896 as Sidcup High School, it evolved through the grammar school tradition and became an all-ability school in 1982. Additions to the main building have included purpose-built art, technology, science, music, English and modern language blocks, as well as sports and dining halls. There is a wide range of clubs and activities and there is high participation in extra-curricular sport. In 1999 the school received an Education Extra Distinction Award for Outstanding Extra-Curricular Activities. It also participates in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the UK Maths Challenge. The school maintains a challenging work ethic, underpinned by caring and supportive guidance procedures.
