Staff: 36 (men 13, women 23).
Background: Bickley Park School was founded in 1918 and is situated in Bickley, near Bromley, on two sites. It has grounds with a large sports field close by. It is still in its original Victorian building, but modern additions include the Tidman centre (for science and music) and more recently the Brandram building (for art). Sports at the school include rugby, football and cricket, and teams attend festivals and play fixtures against other schools, from under-seven upwards. Also on offer are athletics, basketball, cross-country, fencing, golf, gymnastics, swimming and tennis. The school is large enough to challenge and small enough to care.
Approach to discipline: The school encourages good behaviour at all times. There is a positive approach based on high standards. It aims to build a spirit of co-operation between children and staff both in and out of the classroom, promote self-discipline and proper regard for authority and to encourage good behaviour and respect for others. This secures an acceptable standard of behaviour.
Uniform: Blazer and tie, grey trousers. Strictly enforced.
Special needs: The school makes provision from within its resources to address the requirements of those children who may have disabilities and special needs.
Inspection: October 2003: 'The school is moving rapidly forward under the positive leadership of the head. It has a number of strengths which promote the school?s aims and ethos.
