General information

Background: Dates from 1836; 'Although the school is situated in a London suburb, it remains a village school, both in terms of its leafy setting and family atmosphere.' Tuition in a range of musical instruments from peripatetic staff; pupils also have chance to participate in school choir and orchestra. Teams entered in local sporting competitions; recent trophy success in football, netball, athletics, cross-country running and swimming. French and chess offered as extra-curricular activities. Each year, the school raises funds for a selected charity project; children also encouraged to become involved in local community events, such as carol singing at the local retirement home. Over-subscribed, with more than three applications per place. Children with special educational needs receive assistance in small groups from support staff.
