General information

Background: The school is set in green eight-acre site in a quiet residential area with view of Kent Downs, within easy reach of A21 and Orpington Railway Station. Its facilities are constantly being enhanced. Recent improvements include indoor tennis centre, e-learning in classrooms and upgraded sixth form suite. The school, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, has tripled original intake; pupils living within eight-mile radius are eligible to apply. The school has long record of academic success and a huge range of enrichment activities. It has achieved specialist engineering college status. Over-subscribed, with seven applications per place. It holds several awards, including the Healthy Schools Award; Investor in Careers (2005); Artsmark (2002); Artsmark Silver (2005); Sportsmark (2002); Sportsmark Gold (2005); Investor in People status (2006); DfES achievement award (2001, 2002, 2003); Training school status.
