General information

Background: Opened in 1966 the school is situated in the 'pleasant' village of Chalfont St Giles. The building includes eight separate self-contained classrooms and has facilities which include a music room, art and craft room, science and home economics area, and a well stocked library. There is a particularly strong music and drama tradition within the school with children participating in an annual concert at Christmas and a carol service held in a village church. At the end of the academic year the older children take part in musical productions, often with the orchestra providing accompaniment. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, rugby, uni-hoc, basketball, tennis, cross-country, swimming, badminton, gymnastics, cricket, chess, choir and orchestra. The sporting tradition is strong with a wide variety of personal awards available, the school is represented in inter-school competitions in soccer, netball, athletics, swimming, cricket and cross-country. Teams from the school have regularly won the district soccer league cup and district cricket league cup. Many visits and educational journeys are arranged by the school, which may be either day or residential. There are community links with local business, the local old peoples' home and the parish church, there is also annual charity fundraising.
