General information

Headteacher: David J Hopkin.

Staff: 12 (women 12).

Background: Although Dair House currently caters for children between the ages of three and eight, it will be extending its intake to 11-year-olds by 2002. Founded in 1932, the original building is a large country house, which has, since been extended to a gym and drama hall, stage, art block, extra classrooms and a nursery. Four new classrooms and a hall are planned to open by September 2000. The school is set in 'beautiful' grounds with a 'large' sports field, hard surface play area and outdoor equipment, with easy access to the M40 and M4. The school won ISA drama and art competitions in 1999. It offers a variety of extra-curricular clubs and after school care every evening. Dair House holds an annual charity week and has an 'active' PTA which organises events throughout the year.

Approach to discipline: 'Firm but fair.'

Uniform: Grey pinafore/shorts, pale blue shirt/blouse, navy jumper/cardigan, navy blazer and duffle coat. Regulations are enforced 'fairly strictly'.

Inspection: November 2004: 'Dair House School provides good teaching which enables its pupils to achieve good standards. Very good provision for pastoral care and personal development ensures that pupils are happy and that their learning and behaviour are good. Pupil?s benefit from the strong ethos the school provides. Strong links exist with parents. Though the management of the school is satisfactory overall, there are several shortcomings.'

Boys' age range: 3 to 8.

Girls' age range: 3 to 8.
