General information
Background: Founded in 1624 by Sir William Borlase in memory of his son, Henry, MP for Marlow, the school is still located on its original site in one of town's oldest streets. Recent additions include English, science and modern languages classrooms, gymnasium, library and canteen. New £3 million technology and performing arts centre opened in May 2006; new sixth-form centre in August 2006. There are French, German and Spanish exchange visits each year and the school has strong links with schools in each country. Recent sporting successes include five national championships in hockey; many national championship rowing awards; number of international sportsmen and women in rowing, hockey, rugby and tennis. School Sports Partnership 'hub' school for Marlow area. Music department has achieved national recognition for jazz band and gospel choir. Other awards for engineering education teams and for Mathematics Olympiad entries. Strong parents' association; Old Borlasian club. Specialist performing arts college status. Over-subscribed, with four applications per place. Sportsmark; Investor in People status (2000).
