General information

Background: Bury Grammar School has a very long history and provides a broad and balanced education in a lively and friendly environment. The Art and CDT departments occupied the first stage of their present building in 1975 and in 1985 the large Construction Hall was added. The complex now contains not only conventional facilities for Art and the traditional craft-based skills, but rooms for Pottery and Sculpture and extensive floor space for many activities which include electronics and the use of sophisticated Computer Aided Design and Manufacture equipment.Boys who attend the school are fortunate in enjoying first-class facilities where they can practise the sport of their choice. The school has various sports of basketball, volleyball, badminton, indoor cricket, five-a-side soccer, gymnastics and trampolining. Outside they can use the floodlit sporturf surface on which they play hockey, soccer, cricket and hold fitness sessions. The grass hockey fields are at the front of the sports hall and in the summer cricket and athletics also take place there. Five cricket nets are available for outdoor practice and the automatic bowling machine keeps even the best batsman on his toes. Eight newly refurbished tennis courts are available. .
