General information
Background: The school was founded in 1927 to serve the needs of the parish of St Joseph?s, Ramsbottom. It was refurbished in 1989, when a nursery was added, an additional classroom was built in 1993 to cater for the growth in numbers and a further new classroom is planned for 2000. Each child is taught the three core subjects of English, science and mathematics as well as foundation subjects of religious education, technology, history, geography, music, art and physical education. Personal and social education is also an integral part of the curriculum. The school 'depends very much on the relationships with parents and the whole school community'. Extra-curricular activities include netball, football, tag rugby, lacrosse, and chess club. Recent sporting successes have included winning the Embredeck Trophy for football, and reaching the finals of the lacrosse regional knockout. Fundraising activities include local and national charities, as well as Catholic based charities. The school aims to provide a welcoming, well-maintained, safe and happy environment.
