General information

Background: St John's CofE VA Primary School, Rishworth was opened by the National Society in January 1874 and has remained a Church Primary School. Since it?s opening, the building has been extended several times and now provides five spacious classrooms, an area for infant activities, a library, a large school hall and a school kitchen. To the front of the school is a hard surfaced play area and to the rear a garden and playing field on the hillside. Pupils? are grouped into five classes two in Key Stage 1 and three in Key Stage 2. Pupils? are taught as a whole class in groups or individually according to the nature of the task, subject and context. The school provides the opportunity for instrumental tuition from visiting specialist music teachers. It also provides activities include football, cricket, netball, gymnastics, textiles, rounders, music, computers and environmental club.
