Background: This is a small, intimate and a friendly school in Mill Bank, a delightful rural village situated in attractive countryside on the edge of the Pennines in a designated conservation area. St Mary's has healthy parental involvement and is an important focal point for the village, while the Parent-Teacher Association organises family and fund-raising events that are always well-attended. The school's caring atmosphere extends beyond school boundaries, pupils raising funds for charities such as LEPRA, which helps leprosy sufferers. The children's sporting achievements include being top of the league table in Calderdatle and 180th in the whole country. The school has won trophies in football and cross-country.
