General information

Background: St Bede's is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic and Church of England school that takes children from 11 to 16 years of age. It is a five-form entry school. The school is equipped with specialist teaching rooms located in four main teaching blocks. The main building houses the science, art and special needs departments, as well as a very large hall, dining areas, resource centre and gym. In addition, there is St Etheldreda Building, the technology and ICT block and the performing arts and English block. Recent developments include a lift that has been added to the technology block, refurbishment of the graphics room and two mobile classrooms. The school organises a wide variety of activities aimed at widening students? academic, social and spiritual experience. These include orchestra, choir, brass, clarinet, flute and string groups, drama productions, chess club, Christian activities and many more. The school offers a range of team and individual sports including soccer, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, basketball and athletics. The school is a centre for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. The school aims to create and sustain, with God's help, a learning, caring and serving community where all people are valued for who they are and for who they may become in the light of Jesus Christ. .
