General information

Background: Radyr Comprehensive School is a purpose-built comprehensive school opened in 1972 to serve northwest Cardiff. The school is situated on an elevated site overlooking city and Taff Valley. School facilities feature extensive playing fields, including all-weather pitch and 10 tennis courts, sports hall, heated indoor swimming pool and drama studio. Academic standards are high with 77 percent of year 11 students achieving first or more A*-C grades in 2006 and 32 percent of A level entries in year 13 resulting in A grades. There are unusually high levels of participation out of learning generally with exceptionally high levels of both participation and achievement in sport and the performing arts. The school has links with schools in every country in the European Union. The school works on the principle that 'good enough never is', seeking always to improve its provision and encouraging all students to do the best they can do and be the best they can be in every aspects of their lives.
