General information

Background: Founded in 1896; original redbrick Victorian building now houses the hall, music studio and kitchen. The classrooms are in three wings (lower school, middle school and upper school departments) built in 1968. Well supported by an active Parent Teacher Association; every class has a computer, there are three departmental libraries and a lending library run by parents. Also a music studio, technology workshop and extensive playing fields. Extra-curricular programme includes a range of after school and lunchtime activities including football, netball, lacrosse, kwik cricket, creative dance and a Welsh language Urdd Club. Music is important in the school. Eight peripatetic teachers visit the school each week to give lessons to around 70% of junior pupils. School orchestra, a chamber group, brass ensemble and two choirs. Years 4,5 and 6 take part in residential courses. Year 4 visit Summerhouse Bay in the Vale of Glamorgan; year 5 visit Stackpole and year 6 has an annual exchange with pupils from St Philbert de Grand Lieu in France. Not over-subscribed.
