General information

Background: Bishop Heber High School founded in 1960. The school became comprehensive in 1975, when it achieved community status. Now it shares facilities such as the library and sports hall. Organisations such as Scouts, Guides and Air Training Corps have headquarters on school campus, along with private music tuition and adult education provision. An ICT centre was completed in 2001, encompassing community library and providing state-of-the-art computing facilities for school and community through UK online learning centre programme. The school occupies a wooded site in a rural setting having extensive playing fields and recreation area. The school has creative arts and special needs building, Specialist Language College and is looking to the future to a purpose built sixth form centre. Through Specialist Language College status, it has wide range of student exchanges, foreign work experience programme and wide variety of international projects. The school is proud of its strong academic success, a high profile in a wide range of sports to and including County and National level and a good reputation for music. The school aims to provide a positive, well-ordered and stimulating environment to promote and celebrate achievement in academic study, sport, performance, creative art and community work.
