General information
Background: Brine Leas was established in 1976, and emerged from two single-sex schools. The school was designated a Specialist College of Technology in September 1999. It is located on the southern side of Nantwich and serves Southern Cheshire. The schools has extensive playing fields, specialist facilities for all subject areas, and a large sports hall. In 2000, a new arts block was opened as well as an improved mathematics, science and technology facilities. The school has an excellent reputation within the community that it serves. It houses the regional Cricket Centre of excellence and is renowned for its excellent teaching of music, drama and sport. There is also an extensive programme of Foreign Exchanges and sports visits abroad. The school has gained significant recognition for its success including Sportsmark Gold, Artsmark Gold, Beacon School Status, The Schools Curriculum Award, a number of national achievement awards, Investor in People Status. These awards reflect the life and purpose of this community and its students. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered including: football, netball, rugby, tennis and choir. The school provides a variety of opportunities at lunchtime and after-school to enhance the learning of pupils. The school aims to ensure each student has a successful education with commitment, involvement and teamspirit built around a strong house system.
