General information

Background: The main building of Buglawton Primary dates from 1900, and 'significant additions' were made in the 1960's. The school has seven classrooms, an activities room with ICT and design and technology facilities, a library and a large hall. Outdoors facilities include 'extensive' playing fields, two netball courts and three separate playgrounds for the reception class, infants and juniors. The school is situated in a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Congleton. It offers a 'broad' curriculum based on the guidelines set down by the national curriculum. The school believes that 'all pupils should be treated as individuals' and teaching within the school focuses on this, 'allowing for the wide variation of ability and aptitude within each class'. The school also offers a 'wide' range of extra-curricular activities which include football, netball, cross-country, athletics, art and French clubs. The school is proud to be 'regular' winners of the town sports events, in the small schools section. It has strong links with the local community and churches and holds regular joint activities with the church. The school encourages pupils to raise money for charity and a new cause is choosen to be supported annually.
