General information

Background: Bishop Wilson was founded by Thomas Wilson, Bishop of Sodor and Man, in the village of Burton in 1728. In 1964 it moved from its original sandstone building to a new building on the edge of the village. This has since expanded and a further two acres have been added to the site thanks to efforts by governors, parents and trustees. Children 'excel in many areas', including music, physical education, technology, sports, computing and the arts. The school recently installed a computer suite with internet connections. A number of children with special needs and gifted children attend the school which is over-subscribed by three applications for each place.
