General information

Background: The school is situated on the western edge of popular market town in rural Cheshire and is opened in September 2000. Lying adjacent to green fields, the campus has, in recent years, undergone an extensive redevelopment programme culminating in a DFES approved scheme totalling £8 million. Much of the accommodation is therefore brand new: notably in science, modern foreign languages, ICT, art, physical education, drama and music. Designed around a series of attractive courtyards, red brick has been used throughout the campus to complement the pleasant residential area nearby. A National Lottery funded sports complex featuring: indoor leisure centre, eight hectares of outdoor pitches and tennis courts and a full sized astro-turf is used by local sports clubs and the general public out of school hours. The school's ICT capability is outstanding with extensive hard wire networks and broadband links. The school has achieved a long list of sporting achievements and is renowned for its success in drama. Excellent relationships with parents and the wider community are maintained through community projects and the parents in partnership group. The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities and it includes an annual whole-school musical project. CHS aims to provide a centre of excellence where quality teaching and a supportive environment enable students to fulfil their potential across a wide range of subjects and activities. The ethos is friendly, caring, inclusive and mutually respectful, determined by a sense of achievement and fairness.
