General information

Background: Opened in 1964, Manor House became a one-form entry primary school in January 1994. The over-subscribed, 'attractive' school is in 'excellent' condition and is 'very well resourced' with seven classrooms, an information and communications technology (ICT) suite, a music room and a library. The 'generous' grounds contain two football fields, a garden, two playgrounds and a physical play area. The school is proud of its 'strong musical tradition', and there are opportunities to take part in extra-curricular choral and dance clubs. Sport is also promoted through participation in local team sports and competitions, and Year 2 pupils spend a night at an outdoor education centre. Pupils are involved in charity fundraising throughout the year, and especially at Christmas. A relationship with the local arts and sports association raises pupils' multicultural awareness by bringing visiting speakers and artists into the school, and links have also been established with communities in Africa and Eastern Europe. Before- and after-school care is available, offering a 'range of interesting activities'. An 'active' Home School Association maintains links with parents. The school is keen to cater for pupils' individual needs. More able pupils can work with children of similar ability at the local high school, while three teachers at Manor House are qualified to support those with dyslexia.
