General information

Background: Poynton High School and Performing Arts College is an 11-18 comprehensive school providing high quality education to the communities of Poynton, Disley, Adlington and Pott Shrigley. It is consistently one of the highest achieving schools in Cheshire. It has a large community links programme, in which its young people have the opportunity to work in the local community helping others and learning so much themselves. It offers a wide range of subjects and opportunities beyond the classroom. The curriculum is designed to meet the requirements of the national curriculum and the broader needs of all its students as they prepare for their future lives. The school maintains an extensive, modern careers library offering open access to students. In 2001 the school has received the Investors in Careers Award, which recognises existing good practice and plans for future development and hopes to retain the award in its resubmission in 2004. Religious education at this school fulfils the requirements of the Education Reform Act. The school believes passionately in the impact of teaching and learning in the performing arts on students? learning, self-esteem, life skills and aesthetic awareness.
