General information

Background: Weaverham High School was opened in a semi-rural location in 1956 as a three-form entry secondary modern, and was reorganised as a comprehensive in 1978, with seven forms of entry. It has been a technology college since December 1997. There has been substantial enhancement of its buildings and a new science block, music accommodation and an arts centre are among recent additions. The school provides excellent facilities for PE including an all-weather pitch, sports hall, gymnasium and playing fields. The school is over-subscribed, with 1.5 applications per place. It prides itself on its excellence of achievement in all subjects, particularly science and technology. Weaverham offers unparalleled evening and weekend activities in its enrichment and enhancement programme. It arranges sporting fixtures, and achieves notable performances in hockey, rugby, cross-country and athletics. The schools aim is to develop young people who are confident and well equipped for the next stage of their lives. The school believes this can best be achieved by working in partnership with parents, and by providing a happy, caring and well-ordered environment. Weaverham High School is committed to be the pursuit of excellence in the achievements of all its pupils. The school is a community and its ethos will be at its strongest when relationships are collaborative and supportive.
