General information

Background: St Osburgs is a voluntary aided primary and nursery day school. The school is located on one site alongside the Catholic Church of St Osburg's in Upper Hill Street, the first Roman Catholic Parish to be re-established since the Reformation.It has been on the present site since a new school for boys, girls and infants was opened in 1875. Most of the present two-storey building was completed by 1940 and extended after the Second World War. A separate reception and purpose-built dining area was added in 1968. The reception area is now the nursery block. In 1977 further extensions were added. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include netball, cross-country, athletics and football. The school aims to offer a happy, safe and secure environment in a family atmosphere.
