Background: Following the remit of its founders, Miss Ellis and Miss Clark, Croham Hurst continues to develop the individuality and potential of its pupils within a supportive community framework. The school's mixture of traditional and modern facilities includes a large assembly hall, a three-storey design technology building, ICT rooms, music suite and drama studio. Within the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum, there is an emphasis on learning how to learn, and creativity and independent thought are encouraged. Study skills training is provided during the GCSE years and there are opportunities for the gifted to excel. More than 25 subjects are offered at A-level. The school is keen to nurture all talents, not just the conventional ones, and staff are generous with their time in supporting the academic and pastoral needs of all pupils. Extracurricular activities include debating, speech and drama, travel and community work. Sport plays an important role in school life and the wide range of clubs and teams follow busy schedules. Music and art are also strengths of the school with many public performances and displays of pupils' work.
