General information

Background: Burgh-By-Sands school was originally built in 1866. The school is situated in the village about 6 miles to the west of Carlisle. It has a Catchment area covering the village of Burgh and the neighbouring villages and hamlets. The school is surrounded by extensive playing fields and has tremendous views to the Scottish hills, the Lake District fells and the Pennines. The school was extended in 1987/88, again in 1999 and most recently in 2005 when new nursery block was added. The school provides opportunities for the children to participate in lots of exciting play activities until their parents collect them at the end of the session.
