General information

Background: Burlington CofE School was built in 1877. It has been modified and extended over time. In 1999 a Credits centre offering ICT skills to the community was opened in the old kitchen/school area. There is a new library and small classroom on the ground floor along with physical education and art stores. At the end of December 2001 a successful bid to the New Opportunities Lottery Fund resulted in the school being awarded £25000 towards the development of the school grounds. An ambitious scheme was drawn up to provide the pupils with a quiet garden area, an enclosed sports court and basketball rings and low level challenging adventure trail. Developments to the outdoor facilities include complete re-modelling of land at the side of the school, a semi-shaded area and a trundle track. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including football, art, gardening, orienteering, chess, brass, guitar, recorder and ICT. During the year the school makes several educational visits to support and enhance the curriculum. These may include visits to art galleries, museums, outdoor pursuit venues, churches, variety of habitats and places of other interests. The school aims to create a calm learning environment to provide the best possible education for each and every pupil.
